Hugo era miembro del equipo MNYC, un equipo misionero dedicado a hacer misiones en New York. Así es que en Marzo del 2002 el tiempo fijado para que este equipo se reuniera en New York llego a su fin. Muy pronto todos los miembros del equipo se unieron a su líder Jared Looney, quien ya estaba instalado en New York esperando el resto del equipo. Hugo y Sandra se movieron entonces y pronto empezaron a trabajar con la iglesia de Cristo en Manhattan a la vez que planeaban la apertura de una nueva iglesia en el área del Bronx. Actualmente Hugo trabaja en la iglesia de Manhattan en su mayoría con el ministerio Hispano a la vez que es parte de Metrosoul, organización dedicada a apoyar la plantación de casas iglesias en el área de New York y New Jersey.

In March of 2002 it was time for the team to gather in New York and start a new church in the Bronx area. Hugo and Sandra move to New York with the team and started to work with the Hispanic Ministry at the Manhattan church of Christ. At the present time Hugo is teammate with Jared Looney, Ben Cheek, Rafael Rosario and Kurt Linder who together set up a Missions Resource Team called Metrosoul in order to facilitate and promote the planting of house churches in the New York, New Jersey area. Hugo still continues to work with the Manhattan Church of Christ mainly with the Hispanic ministry.
